Summer in Mexico: Medical Spanish

Curriculum and Faculty

Global Learning Semesters is partnered with the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara (UAG) for our Summer in Mexico: Medical Spanish program. Our host institution is fully accredited and will provide the transcript for students successfully completing academic course work.

The programs are designed and administered by the Centro Internacional de Idiomas (CII) and the UAG. Students enrolled in the program obtain official credit from the UAG. The summer term lasts for 4 weeks and the required course is worth 4 credits (80 class hours). The CII is a part of the UAG and it is fully endorsed by UAG and the Secretari­a de Educacion Publica, Mexico's equivalent of a Ministry of Education.


Curriculum

The Summer in Mexico: Medical Spanish is specifically designed for Pre-Med, Nursing and Spanish majors with an intermediate/advanced Spanish level interested in improving their medical Spanish.

This program has a set curriculum that combines Spanish language and grammar classes with a specialized language course focused on medical Spanish. The curriculum's details can be found below:
  • 2 credits of Spanish grammar and conversation (40 hours) at the appropriate level (5-8) and 2 credits of Medical Spanish (40 hours), for a total of 4 credits.

Students will only attend the First Block of the Spanish course chosen at any of these levels (2 credits). The Second Block will consist of the Medical Spanish module found below.

Placement Test

Students must take a standard language placement test in order to be assigned correctly to their appropriate level for the Spanish grammar and conversation course.
