The Hispanic Global Alliance
The barriers to study abroad for Hispanic students are complex and multi-faceted. This is why the Hispanic Association of Colleges & Universities (HACU) and Global Learning Semesters, have launched The Hispanic Global Alliance, a groundbreaking 10-year initiative to attempt to address the root causes of the gap in Hispanic study abroad.
A major emphasis of this partnership is building the capabilities of HACU member institutions to support Hispanic study abroad and educate global citizens. We can only succeed if we leverage the talent, energy and creativity of the full HACU community to develop innovative solutions and approaches to this important topic.

Benefits for HGA Affiliates
You can become an HGA Affiliate if your school is a member of HACU and if you have joined the Hispanic Global Alliance. The Alliance consists of three initiatives that address the root causes of the gap in Hispanic Study Abroad:
Financial Support
Global Learning Semesters has committed to making available at least $8 million of study abroad scholarships over the next ten years through the Hispanic Study Abroad Scholars (HSAS) program and to working with HACU to look for Special Initiatives that provide additional scholarship monies.

Institutional Capacity Building
Global Learning Semesters is making its expertise in operating study abroad programs available to HACU through training and technological tools that allow even the smallest HACU institution to operate an effective study abroad office.

Program Development
HACU and Global Learning Semesters have developed an advisory committee to guide the co-development of programs in Latin America. The goal is to combine Global Learning Semesters' tradition of innovative program design with HACU's expertise in topical issues important to Hispanic students.
