Summer in Mexico: Hispanic Heritage (HACU)
Curriculum and Faculty
Global Learning Semesters is partnered with the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara (UAG) for our Summer in Mexico: Hispanic Heritage (HACU) program. Our host institution is fully accredited and will provide the transcript for students successfully completing academic course work.
The programs are designed and administered by the Centro Internacional de Idiomas (CII) and the UAG. Students enrolled in the program obtain official credit from the UAG. The summer term lasts for 4 weeks and courses are worth between 2 and 3 credits (40-45 class hours). The CII is a part of the UAG and it is fully endorsed by UAG and the SecretarÃa de Educación Pública, Mexico’s equivalent of a Ministry of Education.
Curriculum
The Summer in Mexico: Hispanic Heritage (HACU) is specifically designed for students in HACU institutions and who want to learn about Mexico and its heritage.
This program has a set curriculum that combines Spanish language classes with a content course taught in English by the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at the UAG that aims to introduce students to Mexico’s history. The curriculum’s details can be found below:
- 4 credits of Spanish grammar and conversation (40 hours grammar and 40 hours conversation) at the appropriate level (1-8).
- 3 credits from 1 content course taught in English on Mexican history.
