Semester in Iberia & Morocco: Europe and Islam

Student Housing

Students participating in the Global Semesters Iberia and Morocco Program, and Semester or Summer in Spain will be housed in student Residencias in Alcalá.

Providing students with a community that will enhance their immersion into the Spanish language and culture is very important to us. We have chosen student Residencia accommodations because it will allow natural interactions with Spanish students.

Because most Spanish students attend a university close to home and live with family, most Spanish universities do not have "campus housing". However, because Alcalá is a strategically planned college town, they have successfully operated several student Residencia communities for many years. Initially built for Spanish students from outside the Madrid region attending the Universidad de Alcalá and international students, the Residencias serve a good mix of Spanish and international students.

The Residencias are set up very similar to student apartment complexes in college towns in the U.S. Apartment-style housing is complemented with community facilities and services such as: computer lab, tennis court, exercise room, laundry, and cafeteria.

Students on Global Semesters programs in Spain will be assigned to double occupancy (two students in a bedroom) in multiple bedroom apartments with Spanish students as housemates. The Residencias have varying style configurations with 4 - 6 bedroom apartments. Students requesting a single bedroom will be required to pay a "single supplement" fee.

The Residencias are located in a residential area of Alcalá approximately 30 minute walk, 10 minute bicycle ride, or 25 minute bus ride from campus.
