New Programs: Global, Paris, Spain, Morocco

New Host Institutions

We are excited to announce that we have added two terrific host institutions for our 2007 programs: the University of Alcala in Alcalá de Henares (Madrid), Spain and the University of Paris IV (Sorbonne). These host institutions allow us to add world-class academic language instruction in Spanish and French to our program offerings and are collaborating with us to create exciting new thematic programs.

From a program perspective, in 2007, we will operate 35 programs across 5 host institutions that cumulatively visit over 60 cities, from Belmopan to Beijing.

Some highlights of our new programs include:

Global Business Semester : From London to Hong-Kong

This program explores the powerful forces of globalization and their impact on business. The Global Business Semester is based in Nicosia, Cyprus, at the crossroads of three continents. This unique program takes an expansive view of the global business environment with site visits to London, Paris, New Delhi, Bangalore, Shangai, Beijing and Hong Kong.

It is a once in a lifetime opportunity to see, first hand, the challenges and opportunities that globalization presents.

Semester in Iberia & Morocco : Europe and North Africa

This unique and timely program was co-developed in exclusive partnership with the University of Alcalá. The Semester in Iberia & Morocco: Europe and Islam program is focused on the influence and interaction between Iberia (Spain and Portugal) and North Africa through the centuries, with a special emphasis on the Islamic/Moorish influence on Spain.

The educational travel and field experiences will take you through the cities of southern Spain, Portugal and Morocco for an exotic, yet timely, exploration of a fascinating topic.

Semester in Spain : A Historic Journey

The Semester in Spain is a flexible program with multiple academic tracks at the University of Alcalá. We can think of few places to study in Spain as appealing as the University of Alcalá.

Alcalá de Henares is an historic UNESCO protected college town where students can immerse themselves in college life, yet is only 25 minutes by train from downtown Madrid. There are multiple academic tracks available that combine language study, subject matter expertise, and site visits linked to the curriculum, so it is likely that there is a academic option available for most students.

Semester in Paris : The City of Light

The Semester in Paris: French Language, Culture & Civilization program at the Sorbonne allows students to study at the most famous academic French language program in the world and is an excellent way to build French language and cultural proficiency.

Travel and field experiences in and outside of Paris are included and help build comfort in interacting in French.

These are just a few of our new 2007 programs. We have added new academic tracks in Art and Business to our well-known Semester in Europe program and have some highly targeted summer programs in the health sciences, pre-veterinary and art.
