Student Housing

Students will be housed in student Residencias in Alcalá. The Residencias are located near the universityâ??s new campus approximately 45 minute walk, 10 minute bicycle ride, or 25 minute bus ride from the downtown campus. The Residencias are set up very similar to student apartment complexes in college towns in the U.S. Apartment style housing is complemented with community facilities and services such as: computer lab, tennis court, exercise room, laundry, and cafeteria.

Students will be assigned to double occupancy rooms (two students in a bedroom). The Residencias have varying style configurations with some being double or single bedroom apartments with a shared kitchen and others being 4-6 bedroom apartments.

The Residencias

Students will be housed in one of three Residencias at the Universidad de Alcalá ââ?¬â?? the Ciudad Residencial Universitaria (CRU), the Residencia Universitaria Cardenal Cisneros (RUCC), or the Residencia Universitaria Giner de los Rios (RUGR), all subject to availability. The three dorms are located in the Universidad de Alcalaâ??s external campus with regular bus service to downtown Alcalá.

Ciudad Residencial Universitaria (CRU)

CRU consists of 53 fully-furnished and equipped houses. Each one has a telephone, television, parking and solarium. Each house has six rooms with four complete bathrooms and a built-in wardrobe for each resident. The common areas are the kitchen, furnished with two double refrigerators, electric stove and microwave oven, the living room, a drying-line room and two half-bathrooms.

• 24 hours front desk service (and surveillance)
• Bed clothing (blanket included) and kitchenware
• Twice-a-week house cleaning service (sheets changed every 10 days)
• Use of the study room, university club, and other sport services
• Mail, fax, and messenger services
• Free entrance to the different cultural events that take place in the residential city
• Repair and maintenance services
• Gardening
• Garbage collection (except on weekends and holidays)
• Paper and dead-battery collection for recycling purposes
• Phone calls within the residential city
• Average usage of water, electricity and gas. Excess above average levels will be equally split between all the house residents as described in the contract
• Shops including a coffee shop, cafeteria, laundry, reprographics services, cigar shop, driving school, supermarket, bank, and computer store
• Recreational activities in cooperation with the University Sports Services are also available

Residencia Universitaria Cardenal Cisneros (RUCC)

RUCC includes residential houses for both men and women and has 107 spots distributed into single and double rooms, all with telephone and internet access, cleaning and meal services, and other facilities such as a library, gym, conference and meeting rooms, and rooms for shorter stays. All this is surrounded by ample gardens with sports facilities and the regular organization of recreational and cultural activities specially designed for its residents.

Residencia Universitaria Giner de los Rios (RUGR)

RUGR includes 327 spots distributed in 183 single rooms, 90 single rooms with a shared kitchen, 36 double rooms with kitchen, and 18 double rooms for temporary stays. There are also rooms for students with disabilities. Most rooms have fully-equipped kitchens, full bathrooms, furniture and bed clothing, heating and air conditioning, phone and Internet connection, and a television antenna. Double rooms include a television.
