Graduation Ceremony for  Cyprus Summer Students

On July 12, the Global Learning Semesters Graduation Ceremony was held for students studying on Cyprus-based programs. The ceremony took place at the UNESCO Amphitheatre  at Intercollege, the host institution for Global Learning Semesters programs based in Cyprus.

A total of 77 students from the Summer in Cyprus, Summer in the Mediterranean and Summer in Europe programs attended the graduation to celebrate the completion of their study abroad experience and to receive their certificates.

Dr. Andreas Polemitis, the Chairman of Global Learning Semesters congratulated the students for successfully completing their programs and then spoke about the 2007 summer term and the experiences that the students had during their study abroad. The students were then called to receive their certificates of completion.

After the graduation ceremony the students along with GLS management and staff attended a dinner at a restaurant in Nicosia. The atmosphere was festive and the students shared some of their experiences and impressions with the GLS staff:

"I'm certain that I will compare every summer for the rest of my life with this one. I cannot imagine how any other could possibly compare to the sheer brilliance of this one.

Kelly O. - Summer in the Mediterranean: Early Christianity

"Study abroad with GLS is a life-changing experience. You reach new levels that never seemed reachable. The people, the beaches, the way of life is amazing. I know I will go back a better person. I would stay forever if I could. Cyprus and GLS will always have a special place in my heart! Thank you to all the GLS staff. You have all been amazing. Best time of my life!"

Jessica M. - Summer in Europe

"Traveling to Cyprus is the best decision I have ever made. I have learned in and outside of the classroom. It is a unique island and studying here has made me a part of the "big family" that Cyprus is."

Lisa C. - Summer in Cyprus

"In six short weeks I have sailed three seas, danced like an Egyptian, seen the lights of Rome and visited the temples of ancient Gods, all while having the time of my life."
